Welcome to my first weekly online newsletter which will hopefully ignite your enthusiasm to play more and better golf. I shall endeavour to pass golfing tips, industry news and views and just about anything connected to the wonderful game that we all so enjoy.

Ladies Team Pre-Season training sessions

In the first session we focused on the short game. We discussed choice of loft on the club based on various situations. I gave them a simple way to work out what loft to use:

“The more green you have available, the less loft you use, the less green available, the more loft you use!”

I extended a similar thought process to bunkers as well:

“The more sand under ball, you use a club with more bounce, the less sand under the ball, and you use a club with less bounce.'

I will be setting up a ‘Short Game’ handicap test for them. This way we can measure their performances throughout the season. The next session is on Saturday 3rd March, with focus shifted on to full swing techniques and the final session on Saturday 17th March is on course management and strategy.

Hole in one alert!

Congratulations to member Mick Tokley who recorded a hole in one on Tuesday. Mick hit a cheeky little hybrid on the par 3 12th hole to achieve his ace!
